he story of “La Cascina del Monastero” started in 1926 when Alessio Grasso, wine producer in Treisa, became the owner of Cascina Luciani and its surrounding vineyards. The land included the farm situated in the hamlet of Annunziata di La Morra, which had belonged to the convent of Benedictines of Mercenasco, occupied by the monks of Saint Peter of Savigliano for 300 years.

From the time of Alessio Grasso to now, the farmhouse has been enlarged and improved, without changing the spirit of the place, but adapting the structure to suit the needs of an agricultural business at the forefront of fine wine production.

The founder, Alessio Grasso, found a worthy heir in his grandson Giuseppe, who today runs the firm with his wife Velda, ready to one day pass the helm to little Loris and Giada, descendants of a family devoted to the Langa area. Over the years Giuseppe, with pure hard work, has expanded the old farm, equipping it with a new wine cellar where machines at the forefront of wine production can be seen.

By visiting the wine cellar though, you realize that the search for more advanced technology hasn’t made Giuseppe forget the hard work of his ancestors. In one corner, a small museum displaying the equipment used in the past to work the land, reminds the visitor how hard it was, at that time, to change the precious juice of the vines into wine appreciated throughout the world.
